You ever gotten one of those emails? The ones you know by just the looks of it, it was definitely spam. Well this was one of them. I got an email from someone with a peculiar dp asking me for my services all the way from the US and I thought to myself this must be a hoax. But I played along because what did I have to lose?
As the days went by, Arup kept responding to my emails and what was once another spam email was in-fact a secret proposal in the planning. I had asked him more personal questions on how he found me but he answered with "I'm not very sure". So I put my foot down on the urgency of payment, requesting for it as to make sure this "person" was real and not someone who was going to abduct me.
It finally got to the big day and the plan was for me to be a fake tourist on the beach, while they came to the secret location for the proposal.
Taz was hard! She was toooo observant. I had to play with the water and sand by the beach, acting like a tourist in my own country. And then for a split second of distraction, the waves did me dirty. I was soaked...
As Taz was distracted by the drone and her surroundings, Arup quickly got down on one knee behind her and he held his breathe. The waves crashing on the rocks crescendoed as she turned around.
She was in shock, the moment she had been waiting for all her life.
She bopped down in an instant unable to take in what had just happened. But, reassuring with his heart out in front, spoke to her that this time it'll hit a little more, a little deeper, I love you.
I finally got to talk to Taz and asked her how on earth Arup found me. She said that she wasn't too sure besides the fact that I was recommended by her acquaintance. I asked Arup one last time if he remembered how he got to know about me. And he said that it was through one of my work colleagues and good friend, Matt from Rift Photography. And just like that, we connected even as strangers across the globe, Arup mentions that this was no coincidence and this must be the guy.
our hearts be still.
It's in those moments that take your breath
away that makes you feel most
alive.
If Arup & Taz have taught me anything, it is that souls don't meet by accident.
Everything else & more.
